Impact of COVID on Cosmetic Raw Materials

COVID-caused shipping delays and high freight rates are among several reasons why cosmetic raw materials are no longer as readily available as the time before the COVID crisis. Both manufacturers and distributors like us are dealing with rising costs for delivery, products and a shortage of available labor.

We do our best to absorb some of the price increases and make sure that our warehouses are stocked with enough products to keep delivery delays as short as possible. Unfortunately, things aren’t expected to get better in the near term. For example, container ship operators noticed that distributors started booking cargo space for year-end holiday merchandise already back in June, three months before the start of the traditional peak shipping season!

As the holidays are just around the corner we want to help you to be prepared. We highly recommend to place your orders early and plan for up to 12 weeks on special materials, or large bulk sizes, often not including transportation. At this time we advise customers to be realistic and plan ahead, especially with bigger projects. We are trying to be as efficient as possible in getting raw materials well ahead of normal ordering schedules just to be on top of the current market situations. We are continuing to work closely with our suppliers and manufacturers in order to serve you with as few disruptions as possible.
