Transition into Fall Skin Care

We’re at that time of year again when summer is coming to a close, school is starting, and the leaves are changing. That means it’s time for warm, soothing scents and stepping up your skin care routine! - Here are a few formulas and tips to get the fall started off right.

Soothe Dry Skin

Throughout the summer it’s pretty safe to assume that thick creams or body butters are the last thing anyone wants to apply to their skin. Once the cooler weather hits, that all starts to change.

In the colder months, our skin starts to dry out quickly and with that, we need to make sure we’re using something that will retain that moisture in our skin to ensure absolute moisture long-term. Usually, skin becomes dryer in the winter because there is less humidity in the air (depending on location) and that causes the water in the skin to evaporate a lot faster. Another cause could be indoor heating. When the heaters turn on, it can cause the skin to feel dry and irritated. These are just a couple of examples of why your skin might feel dryer in the colder months of the year.

A great new formula that will help skin to feel hydrated all fall/winter long is our Lavender & Oat Body Butter Formula (No. 1911). It uses murumuru butter and oatmeal extract to make the skin feel velvety-smooth. Additionally, using lavender oil can help soothe skin as well, and the scent makes for a relaxed/calming sensation.

Sometimes Lip Balms Just Don’t Cut it

It’s not only the body that starts to feel dry and uncomfortable in colder weather, it’s could also be the lips causing discomfort. Applying a moisturizing lip balm is great, but sometimes that doesn’t do the trick.

This is because a lot of lip balms usually only provide temporary relief. Additionally, if there’s already dry skin on the lips, a lip balm isn’t going to make that flakey, dry skin disappear. Using a lip scrub could help combat that dry skin. We have a great formula that uses brown sugar, lavender essential oil, and coconut oil. By utilizing a lip scrub, the lips will feel smooth and exfoliated – making it easier for lip balms to soften and moisturize. It’s super simple to make and it’s extremely effective in removing that pesky dead skin. Here is the full formula.

Exfoliating the Skin is Key

Speaking of exfoliating, it’s important to do that same to the face as well. Exfoliating the face helps skin to look brighter and could even help improve the effectiveness of a topical skin care products!

Try creating another one of our newest formulations – Fruit & Herb Exfoliating Cleanser (No. 1909). It not only makes the skin feel clean, but it also helps to remove the dead skin that might be causing skin irritation. It's recommended to limit the number of times someone exfoliates their face because it could cause irritation. However, if someone has more oily skin, it could be more beneficial to exfoliate more often than those with normal to dry skin.Utilizing these formulas and others centralized around dry skin care could really be the trick to creating an amazing fall line of products that are sure to amaze!
