Exfoliants (or abrasives) are compounds able to slough away the top layer of dead epidermis cells of the skin, thereby leaving the skin appear smoother, fresher and less wrinkled (peelings). The result of exfoliation is to promote blood circulation in the skin and to increase the turnover of surface skin cells. Exfoliation is being achieved mechanically by scrubbing the skin with cleansers containing small, hard particles (scrubs). We do not support/sell polyethylene micro beads as they cause irreparable damage to the oceans: sewage and waste water treatment plants cannot filter out these tiny particles they are pumped straight into water courses and end up in the ocean.
