Description
Emulsifying blend for making oil-in-water emulsions. Contains glyceryl stearate (60%), cetearyl alcohol (25%), sodium stearoyl lactylate (15%). HLB value 10-11 (gives oil-in-water emulsions).

Manufacture
Cetearyl alcohol is a mixture of the fatty alcohols cetyl alcohol and stearyl alcohol which are made by catalytic hydrogenation of the triglycerides obtained from vegetable and coconut oils and followed by oxidation of a chain growth product of ethylene oligomerized on a triethylaluminum catalyst. Glyceryl stearate is made by reacting glycerin with stearic acid, a fatty acid obtained from soy oil.
